Slow Days in the Cotswolds

There is a specific kind of quiet that only the English countryside can offer in a beautiful summer stillness that invites the mind to wander as slowly as the feet. It is a landscape that mirrors the very ethos of Hare & Loom: rooted, intentional, and timeless.

Between the honey-colored stone of Castle Combe and the winding paths near Bibury, I found myself captivated not by the grand vistas, but by the smallest details. The way velvet-green moss clings to a crumbling dry-stone wall, or the intricate, chaotic weave of a bird’s nest tucked deep into an ancient hedgerow. These are the textures that eventually find their way back to our loom, informing the grit and grace of every pattern we craft in our studio.

Hours were lost in a tiny cafe in Stow-on-the-Wold, where the scent of woodsmoke mingled with the aroma of Earl Grey. It is in these pauses—the gaps between the walking and the making—where creative inspiration truly takes root. Slow travel isn't just about the pace of the journey; it’s about the depth of the observation. It is a commitment to seeing the world with the same patience and presence we bring to a complicated stitch, honoring the process as much as the destination.
